World Refugee Day 2026

India's Forgotten Refugees

A World Refugee Day Policy Initiative by Hindu Samman Foundation

Recognition • Protection • Dignified Integration

About This Initiative

On the occasion of World Refugee Day 2026, Hindu Samman Foundation (HSF) launched a humanitarian policy initiative calling for the development of a comprehensive National Refugee Policy for persecuted Hindu and other Indic minority communities who have sought refuge in India after fleeing religious persecution.

As part of this initiative, HSF prepared and submitted a 77-page World Refugee Day Policy Memorandum for the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India through the Delhi Police.

The memorandum represents years of humanitarian engagement, extensive field visits, legal research and policy analysis conducted while working with refugee communities across Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and West Bengal.

It is intended as a constructive contribution towards strengthening humanitarian governance, improving administrative coordination and promoting the dignified rehabilitation of refugee families residing lawfully in India.
